📖 What Is the M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan?

The M’Cheyne Bible Reading Plan is a beloved 1-year Scripture reading schedule created by Scottish pastor Robert Murray M’Cheyne in the 1800s. It is designed to guide believers through the entire Bible in one year, reading every day of the week (7 days/week).


🗓️ How It Works (1-Year, 7-Day Format)

Each day, the plan includes 4 chapters from different parts of the Bible:

  • Two chapters are part of a personal reading track (meant to complete the whole Bible in a year)

  • Two additional chapters are part of a “family” or group reading track (which adds a second cycle through the New Testament and Psalms)

This means that over the course of a year:

  • You’ll read the Old Testament once

  • You’ll read the New Testament and Psalms twice

Each day’s reading typically takes about 20–30 minutes and includes a mix of historical, poetic, prophetic, and gospel-centered passages—allowing readers to see Christ throughout all of Scripture.
