Be Strong, Brother – God Is Near
Light for Today:
What if your strength came not from muscle—but from God’s presence?
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 ESV)
Michael—Charlie’s friend—had just lost his job. Bills were piling up, and his confidence felt crushed. One morning, while reading from The Tony Evans Bible Commentary (Tony Evans), the truth hit home: courage isn’t about feeling brave—it’s about trusting that God is with you in the storm. Joshua 1:9 wasn’t whispered—it was declared: “Be strong. Do not be afraid. I am with you.”
God didn’t offer a pain-free path. He offered His presence. Strength isn’t found in control—it’s found in surrender. For men of faith, courage starts with the conviction that God walks beside you—even when life falls apart. And that changes everything.
Prayer:
Lord, help me be strong and courageous—not in my own strength, but because You go with me. Keep fear and doubt far from me. Amen.
