Light for Today: Are you searching for streng

th in all the wrong places?

“For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, ‘In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.’ But you were unwilling.” (Isaiah 30:15, ESV)

Charlie’s friend James was burning out from doing too much in his own strength—church, family, work. He thought more effort would bring breakthrough, but it only brought exhaustion. One night, Isaiah 30:15 pierced his heart. “In quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” He also remembered reading in Spiritual Leadership by J. Oswald Sanders: “True strength lies in submission which draws power from God.”

Strength doesn’t always look like action—it often looks like stillness. God offers rest and renewal, but like Israel, we often resist. This verse isn’t just a comfort—it’s a warning. God’s strength is reserved for those willing to return, rest, and trust. For the man constantly pushing to prove something, Isaiah 30:15 is a call to pause. Stop striving. Let God’s strength meet you in surrender.

Bible Vibrance Q.:

Are you exhausting yourself trying to be strong, instead of resting in God’s strength?

Bible Vibrance Prayer:

Father, teach me to return to You and rest. Quiet my anxious striving and grow my trust. Be my strength today. In You, I find rest and power.
